LA한인회에서는 해마다 음력설날을 기해 저소득층 가정을 위한 특별 푸드뱅크 행사를 개최해 왔습니다. 올해에는 최근 LA지역에 동시다발적으로 발생한 최악의 산불로 엄청난 피해가 발생한 가운데, 산불 피해자를 위로하는 차원에서 Hurst Fire산불(Sylmar일대)이 발생했던 지역을 찾아 한인과 지역주민을 돕는 행사로 준비하였습니다. 오는 1월30일(목) 오전10시, Pacoima City Hall에서 개최되는 이번행사에는 선착순 500명에게 쌀과 라면, 냉면, 과자 등의 한국식품과 핸드크림, 클렌징wipe등 생필품도 전달하게 됩니다. <설날 푸드뱅크 행사> - 날짜 : 2025년 1월 30일(목) - 시간 : 오전10시부터(*500명분 소진시 종료) - 장소 : Pacoima City Hall (13520 Van Nuys Blvd, Pacoima, CA 91331) - 수량 : 선착순 500명 The Korean American Federation has annually hosted a special Food Bank event for low-income families during Lunar New Year. This year, in light of the recent devastating wildfires in the LA area, they have prepared an event to comfort and support fire victims, specifically focusing on the Hurst Fire area in Sylmar. On January 30th (Thursday) at 10 AM, held at Pacoima City Hall, the event will distribute food and supplies to the first 500 attendees. This includes Korean food items like rice, ramen, cold noodles, and snacks, as well as essential supplies such as hand cream and cleansing wipes. Unprecedented large-scale wildfires simultaneously occurring in the LA area are causing tremendous damage. Among these, the Palisade Fire and Eaton Fire, with progress rates of 63% and 89% respectively, are now resulting in reported damages to Korean and other local residents. The wildfire damage extends beyond individual and family losses, representing a collective community tragedy—where lifelong savings invested in homes and cherished family memories can disappear overnight. The Korean American Federation of Los Angeles has been providing relief efforts, collecting essential supplies like masks and blankets for the fire-affected areas. Recognizing that the most challenging period for victims will be the long recovery process, they are initiating a fundraising campaign to offer some assistance. Drawing from previous relief experiences—including the 2021 Cajon Pass Freeway fire, pandemic relief funds, support for Ukrainian war victims, and aid for Syrian earthquake survivors—they pledge to transparently publish daily updates about fund collection and distribution through media outlets and their website. LA지역에 동시다발적으로 발생한 사상초유의 대형산불들로 엄청난 피해가 발생하고 있습니다. 그중 가장 규모가 큰 Palisade Fire, Eaton Fire산불이 각각 63%, 89%진화율을 보이는 가운데, 이제 한인 등 주민들의 피해가 속속 보고되고 있습니다. 평생을 일해 모아 마련한 집이 하룻새 없어지고, 가족들과의 평생의 추억이 모두 없어지는 등 산불로 인한 피해는 개인과 가정을 넘어 지역사회 모두의 큰 슬픔입니다.
